Harris working on Speed, Speed, Speed

Picture
By: Kenneth True

Tom Landry said “Football is to Texas, what religion is to a priest.” You can just about pull into any town on a Friday night throughout Texas and you’re not gonna be to far from a college football recruit. Elijah Harris is one of those young men, Harris a 5’10 165 lbs RB is the #14 RB in the 2024 class. So far on this season, he’s helped his Clear Lake (TX) team to a 5-4 record and is preparing to face Braswood for a playoff spot.

On the season, Elijah has ran for 856 yards, 8 TD and has 1 receiving TD. But Elijah says “I can get the job done.” He certainly has to this point with the likes of Houston, Tulane, Memphis, Incarnate Word, and Colorado State taking notice.

When asked if any programs stick out Harris noted “Memphis, and Incarnate Word I like them a lot!” The 5’10 back says he has connected with “Coach Cam Martin, and Coach Landan (Salem) at Memphis he reaches out to me all the time, we talked after practice and he sends me stuff like a lot of quotes and stuff.”

When asked what he is working on Harris said “Speed, speed, speed and the ability to be a playmaker. Just being able to play slot, RB, and returner.” So it’s easy to see why it’s entertaining to watch Elijah with the ball in his hands.
