6'8 OT has eyes set on BYU after 2-year mission

By: Kenneth True
Things are changing out in Provo, Utah and it isn’t just the seasons. Next season the Cougars will pack their bags and head to the Big 12, and next year Ethan Thomason our #21 ranked offensive tackle in the nation will begin his 2 year mission.
Thomason’s Rocky Mountain (CO) HS team has faced a rocky start starting 4-3 but has done so in the face of adversity having lost their first string and second string quarterbacks. The Lobos recently got back their 2nd stringer and hopefully will see a turn around.
As for who Thomason is looking forward to facing once he steps onto the field at BYU and the Big 12 he thinks the Cougars and Baylor Bears will have a interesting rivalry with former Cougar staffers Eric Mateos now on the Bears sidelines.
On what drew him to BYU, Thomason says “I love their offense, they pass alot and their power run game plus pass blockers get paid the most which sets me up best at left tackle.” The stalwart OT also said Provo felt like home, and “I have a good relationship with Coach Funk and Coach Sitake as well as current players on the offensive line.”
The Cougar faithful need not to worry about if Ethan is looking around he shot that down very quick in saying “I’m locked into BYU, not looking anywhere else.” When asked if he would be taking any visits. However he is in the ear of some other highly thought of players in Nations Elite’s #19 ranked OT Spencer Fano, 5th ranked TE and current Stanford commit Walker Lyons, as well as another Cardinal commit in DE Hunter Clegg.
Some things the massive 6’8 315 lbs. tackle is working on before arriving is “My foot speed, technique, and strength. As well as athleticism and slimming down.”
