Every year there is a young man or a few that flies under the radar, and Clear Falls (TX) senior RB David Smith is one of those guys. Smith has been on our radar since last season and has been included amongst our top RB’s in his class, he currently sits as the #22 ranked back in the 2023 class.
David has yet to begin taking visits and says he will wait til after his season concludes, a season of which he’s led his team to a 7-2 record with near 1000 rushing yards and 15 TD’s. So far the diminutive back has yet to hear from any D-1 programs but his phone is on, but he has heard from Southwestern, McMurray, East Texas Baptist, Montana State, and Howard Payne.
“East Texas Baptist has a real good coaching staff, and McMurray” Smith says on staffs he’s connected with of those that have reached out to him so far. “Coach (Reed) Collins (Howard Payne) offered on the spot, and I felt like any kid my age that gets a offer they’ll be happy.”
When asked how he is preparing for the next level David says “To be more of a threat at the slot, be more effective overall, more of my skillset be put to use.”
