Orlando (FL) Jones HS’s D’Antre Robinson is one of the nations best DT’s in the junior class, having led his team to a 8-2 record behind 7 sacks, 10 TFL, and 56 tackles Robinson and his Jones teammates are gearing up to face Wekiva tomorrow night.
At 6’4 ½ 294 lbs D’Antre has racked up 30 offers to date. So far on the season, Robinson has gotten the opportunity to take in the environments at Florida State and UCF. On the FSU visit Robinson says “It was good, I talked to the D-Line Coach (Odell Haggins) he just wants me to be set when I get there.” As for the UCF visit Robinson says “The atmosphere was crazy, DL coach (Kenny Martin) knows his stuff but he’s kinda new to UCF but he’s from Orlando.”
When asked if he’s talked to any other programs the talented DT said “I talk to Texas, Texas A&M, USC, alot of schools, Michigan State, and Coach (Cristobal) building something new it’s gonna take some time to click.”
When it comes to other trips Robinson says “I plan on going to Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Michigan State, USC, and Florida.” Robinson did say he is unsure if any of those would happen during the college football season for gameday visits. D’Antre does know what he is looking for in a prospective college home in stating “Somewhere that feels like home, coaches I can go to when I’m feeling down, and where my playing style fits into the program thats the main thing.” As for when any of these programs could expect a decision Robinson says “Probably the middle of next season.”
As for coaching staffs and coaches he’s built a good rapport with he says “Bo Davis (Texas), and Terry Price (Texas A&M) they text me everyday, facetime me, and wish me good luck before every game.” He also mentioned Carson Hall (Georgia) and Florida staffers Sean Spencer and Katie Turner.
As he approaches the offseason, D’Antre says his focus is going to be on “Working on my hands, getting faster, and to lose a couple pounds.”
