Nations #9 Junior SG known as a gym rat

By:Kenneth True
Ask anyone who knows Ava Holman one thing about and her you'll likely be told she's a gym rat. Holman who comes in currently at the #9 SG in the junior class in Nations Elite Rankings is one of the hardest workers I've seen since being back in the business along with 2025 PG Hailee Swain who's headed to Stanford and is trending upwards in our rankings.
Holman says the thing that drives her is "I want to reach my goals to play in college, be the hardest working person in the gym, and stand out." Ava isn't the only Holman in the house to keep an eye on as she has a younger sister named Demi coming up right behind her. With a laugh when asked who wins a game at the same age and development Ava says "I do!" Ava says the two push each other by "She (Demi) helps me practice some offensive stuff, and plays super tough defense and when she's on offense I help her by playing super tough defense."
The 9th ranked SG in the junior class says Illinois sophomore Adalia McKenzie was the toughest player she's ever had to play against and that "I love the way she works, I used to train with her." With her junior season fast approaching at Champlin Park (MN) HS Ava says some goals she has is to "My first goal is to hit 1000 points I'm less than 200 points away, then if our record is down to keep my head up, team chemistry up, and be a good teammate."
Ava enjoyed the summer and camped at Cal Poly, UC-Santa Barbara, UC-San Diego, and just recently returned from the Top 250 Camp at Boo Williams Complex. Outside of those camps the swiss army knife guard has visited Columbia, UC-San Diego, and has a visit scheduled for UC-Santa Barbara later this year. She has also heard from Hartford, Iona, and Missouri State. Out of all of those programs she's heard from early on Ava says she's formed a special bond with the staff at UC-Santa Barbara on what makes it special she says "They just tell me they're super interested in me, we have a weekly call and did a zoom call and
I also took a virtual visit."
Ava Holman on Ava Holman: "I am always going to be the hardest working player on the floor. I have a consistent shot, I love setting my teammates up for the shot. I'm always the first one down and first one back, and I'm easy to coach."
